“Be conscious of this unconscious prayer (of your breath),
For She is the most holy place of pilgrimage.
She wishes for you to enter this temple,
Where each breath is adoration
Of the infinite for the incarnate form.” — Vijnana Bhairava Tantra
Across spiritual traditions, breath has been revered as the essence of life itself. Known as prana, chi, or qi, it is the vital force that animates existence. Even the Hebrew Scriptures evoke this in Genesis, where Ruach—the ‘breath of God’—hovers over the formless void, bringing creation into being.
Yet, in our modern cult of speed, we have become estranged from this sacred rhythm. Conditioned by urgency, we either forget to breathe or do so mechanically—disconnected, unconscious, absent from ourselves.
But the path back to presence is simple: return to your breath.
To truly step into yourself, to awaken, is to breathe consciously.
So, dear friends, remember—breathe. Not as a habit, but as devotion.
“Strong or soft, wild or serene —
Wherever breath flows there is a song.
You are the instrument breath is playing”. — Vijnana Bhairava Tantra
